AMPI Manufacturing Maintenance Internship

AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants producing American-type cheese, processed cheese, and butter. The cooperative markets its award-winning dairy products to foodservice, retail, and food ingredient customers. In 2019, AMPI launched the Dinner Bell Creamery brand, emphasizing over 50 years of partnership with dairy farm families. This internship offers a training program with the potential for full-time employment in a similar role. DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from AMPI, as they continue to receive military benefits. Essential Responsibilities

This list is not exhaustive and may expand as needed: Report safety, food safety, and food quality issues promptly. Maintain heightened food safety and quality standards. Provide effective maintenance support, respond to issues swiftly, and make adjustments to ensure safety, product integrity, and efficiency. Follow all environmental, health, safety, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and confined space procedures. Maintain clean work areas and ensure tool accountability. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, follow manuals and specifications, and ensure safe operation. Manage boiler operation, maintenance, and recordkeeping to ensure safety and efficiency. Maintain ammonia refrigeration systems. Identify and resolve mechanical issues using testing instruments, and assist in root cause analysis. Adjust devices and control instruments with hand tools and measuring instruments. Weld using MIG, TIG, and Stick processes on various metals, including stainless steel, steel, and aluminum. Use resources efficiently, anticipate needs, and assist in training peers. Minimize downtime by informing production of maintenance and documenting issues and solutions. Coordinate with vendors for repairs and parts stocking. Assist in developing maintenance projects and plant upgrades. Participate in meetings, suggest improvements, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Pass down ongoing issues to the next shift. Participate in the Emergency Response program and assist in training new employees. Adhere to all safety, quality, and GMP policies, reporting nonconformities. Perform other duties as assigned. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities.
