AMPI Internship Opportunity
AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants producing 10% of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese, and butter. The cooperative's award-winning dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail, and food ingredient customers. In 2019, AMPI launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand, emphasizing over 50 years of partnership with dairy farm families. This internship offers a learning program aimed at training candidates for potential full-time roles similar to the responsibilities outlined below. DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from AMPI, as they continue to receive military benefits. Essential Responsibilities
This list is not exhaustive and may be expanded by management as needed. Report safety, food safety, and quality issues to authorities. Maintain heightened food safety and quality responsibilities. Provide effective maintenance support, respond promptly to issues, and make adjustments to ensure safety, product integrity, and efficiency. Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, and confined space procedures. Maintain cleanliness and tool accountability in work areas. Operate and perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment, including motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. Perform duties related to boiler operation, maintenance, and recordkeeping. Maintain ammonia refrigeration systems. Identify and resolve mechanical problems using testing instruments, repair defective parts, and assist in root cause analysis. Adjust devices and control instruments with hand tools and measuring instruments. Perform welding (MIG, TIG, stick) on various metals including stainless steel, steel, and aluminum. Use resources efficiently, anticipate needs, and assist in equipment upgrades and modifications. Train and assist operators and peers in maintenance and operation tasks. Minimize downtime through preventive maintenance and proper documentation. Coordinate with vendors for repairs and maintenance. Participate in maintenance projects and site improvements. Engage in team efforts and continuous improvement initiatives. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Pass on unresolved issues to the next shift and participate in emergency response programs. Assist in training new employees. Adhere to all safety, quality, and GMP policies, reporting nonconformities. Perform other duties as assigned. An individual must be able to perform these duties successfully.
