Financial Planning & Analysis Intern (Summer 2026)

This internship will provide support to CSM’s Financial Planning & Analysis team, focusing on developing reports, processes and analyses to enhance management’s ability to make strategic and accurate business decisions across Retail, Office/Industrial, Hotel and Multi-Family Residential industries of real estate.
The intern will gain an understanding of the real estate industry, market data intelligence and key industry business metrics. The learning process will incorporate a combination of hands on experience, mentoring from the FP&A Managers and team, and practical assignments. By the end of the internship, the intern will have a broad understanding of the real estate business and gained exposure to a variety of different tools and methods used to support the industry.
INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, updates and automates reports and analyses utilizing financial applications. This includes assisting in monthly reporting and variance commentary. Conducts market research for analysis and reporting. This includes maintaining competitive maps, updating comparative benchmarking and sharing market data intelligence. Assists in the benchmarking the analytics of operating expenses for the Multi-Family and Hospitality real estate assets. Engages with members of the FP&A team, other interns and corporate office employees to build relationships and a professional network. Prepare and present financial insights to FP&A management during the month end close process and provide suggestions to financial forecasts for remainder of year. Supports the FP&A team with other ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Must have completed at least two years of college, preferably working towards a Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate Development or a related field.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Possesses a strong sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes. Demonstrates organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. Exhibits a solid work ethic and sees projects through to completion. Displays strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates excellent computer skills (especially with Microsoft Excel). Must be flexible and take initiative. Maintains confidentiality of company information. Possesses a basic understanding of process improvement and a willingness to explore new ideas.
