Carr Maloney P.C. is looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our dynamic and collaborative team. We are a mid-sized business and litigation firm based in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. With decades of experience, our team delivers comprehensive legal advice on the most challenging legal issues to national and regional clients.

The Legal Assistant will provide high-level administrative and litigation support to attorneys in a fast-paced practice. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency with legal technology, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities Attorney & Client Support

Prepare, proofread, and format correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents.

Manage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, depositions, hearings, and client meetings.

Provide administrative support, including answering calls, handling mail, preparing expense reports, and arranging travel.

Litigation & Court Support

File documents electronically with state and federal courts (e-filing).

Assist in trial preparation, including creating binders, exhibits, and witness lists.

Draft, process, and track subpoenas for records and witness appearances.

Organize and maintain case files in both paper and electronic document management systems.

Coordinate discovery requests and responses, including assembling and distributing documentation.

Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with firm policies and court rules.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm or legal environment (preferably in litigation).

Experience with medical records analysis is ideal.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.

Experience with legal software, case/document management systems, and e‑filing platforms.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.

Familiarity with legal research platforms (Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER) a plus.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or paralegal certificate preferred.

Metro accessible DC location, on‑site parking and building amenities.
