(ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.
ECI is opening an office in Nebraska in one of the cities listed above and has an opening for a substation project engineer. This is a great opportunity to help start and grow a new office location.
Responsibilities:
The conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization. Engineering responsibilities include the development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications. A Project Engineer assists the Project Manager in the planning and execution of best‑in‑class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff. Project Engineers coordinate the completion of specialized tasks with ECI's subject matter expert discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right‑of‑Way and Project Management/Controls.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years’ project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; willingness to meet fast‑paced project schedules.
A PE license is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of power engineering principals, expert regarding applicable codes, standards and design tools, basic project management execution skills, and ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.
Experience in utility or merchant power industry a plus.
Occasional travel/driving required; subject to client‑mandated drug and background checking; subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
