Key Responsibilities
Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.
Support large, extensive 345 kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies like HVDC and 765 kV.
Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
Develop recommendations for equipment and materials. Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
May assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.
Maintain positive client relations understanding client interests and drivers through effective communication with the project team.
May assist with business development activities.
Function as a technical specialist.
With minimal supervision, apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods.
Expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline.
Engineering Conduct Engineering Standards: Apply design guides, codes, and Black & Veatch policies.
Quality & Continuous Improvement: Apply quality programs, provide guidance, support improvement and change management.
Engineering Production: Prepare complex deliverables, calculations, manage budget, schedule, quality, and lead teams.
Project Coordination: Coordinate with internal/external teams on moderately complex projects.
Client Focus: Assist with key client interests, communicate, and support business development.
Knowledge Sharing: Recognized technical specialist, design projects of moderate complexity.
People Management: Assist with performance management, mentoring, recognition, and timesheets.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.
Excellent written and verbal communications, drive for results, planning, delegation, conflict management, and team building.
Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
Previous client interaction experience with solid relationship‑building abilities.
Proven strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to think quickly at the job site and in front of customer personnel.
Good listening skills, customer focus, priority setting, delegation, teamwork, and team building skills.
Experience with the design of utility‑scale electrical transmission systems.
Structural design of transmission steel structures and their foundations.
Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Must complete background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search.
Certification Professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country, or active pursuit of such registration.
Work Environment Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion.
