Overview Hazen & Sawyer is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to serve as the lead on water and wastewater facility projects. The role includes I&C engineering and design, supervision of staff, and coordination with multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities
Prepare Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details.
Supervise and mentor less experienced staff.
Coordinate with other disciplines (process/mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil).
Perform quality reviews of BIM models, Revit families, and CAD files used in contract documents.
Inspect, test, and approve I&C work performed by contractors at water and wastewater facilities.
Qualifications
Knowledge of water/wastewater or industrial process instrumentation and equipment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
7–12 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering and design.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Multiple years performing I&C design for public‑sector water/wastewater clients.
Experience mentoring junior engineers/designer and coordinating with clients.
Proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
PE License or ability to obtain one within one year of employment.
