Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Class A Fitter Welder
to join a specialized fabrication team in
Tulsa, OK . The
Class A Fitter Welder
will work on waste heat recovery equipment built to
ASME Code , including
gas boilers, firetubes, watertubes, steam drums, economizers, superheaters, and pressure vessels . This position requires advanced welding, fitting, and layout skills, as well as strict adherence to quality, safety, and code compliance standards.
Weld Tests Required
•
6” Schedule 80 6G GTAW (TIG) Stringer/Hot Pass , SMAW (Stick) Fill and Cap.
•
3G FCAW (Flux Core)
on ½” Plate.
•
Fitter Test
– demonstrate accurate layout, cut, and fit skills per blueprint.
Key Responsibilities
•
Read and interpret blueprints and welding procedure requirements
for ASME code fabrication.
•
Layout, cut, fit, and tack pressure and non-pressure parts , including cylinders, nozzles, tubes, tubesheets, headers, and structural components.
•
Perform advanced math calculations
to verify dimensions, orientation, and alignment.
•
Utilize precision leveling and measuring tools
to ensure fit-up accuracy.
•
Perform multiple welding processes:
Flux Core (FCAW), Stick (SMAW), and TIG (GTAW).
•
Weld in all positions
– flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
•
Pass X-ray and non-destructive testing (NDT)
inspections consistently.
• Work with a variety of materials:
carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, and nickel alloys.
•
Operate carbon arc gouging and cutting torch equipment
safely.
• Ensure all work meets
ASME Code, company, and client requirements.
•
Perform additional shop tasks
as required to support production.
Qualifications
• Minimum
5 years of experience
in a
manufacturing or pressure vessel fabrication setting.
• Proficiency in
ASME code welding and vessel fabrication.
• Strong blueprint interpretation, layout, and fitting ability.
• Must demonstrate
strong mechanical aptitude
and teamwork skills.
• Experience with
sub-arc welding
is a plus but not required.
• Must meet safety-sensitive position standards and follow all safety policies.
