PetSmart East Madison Cat Care Volunteer
Humane Society of Jefferson County, Madison, Wisconsin, us, 53774
You can help the HSJC cats and kittens at our satellite adoption center get the care and love they need.
Cattery care volunteers at Madison's PetSmart East location are needed for about 2 hours daily anytime between 7:00am-12pm to help with cleaning, socializing, and preparing kitties to meet potential adopters.
Another need is in the evenings anytime between 3:30pm-8:30pm, helping wrap up the day tidying up, cleaning out cages, and making sure the room is as clean as possible to keep the kitties healthy and ready to be adopted.
Because of the time and cost required to train volunteers, HSJC requires a commitment to volunteering. Volunteer are asked to commit to a minimum of one scheduled, recurring shift at least twice per month. Shifts vary in length depending on the number of animals housed there on any given day.
Volunteers must be able to read and comprehend policy and protocol information and remember and follow shelter rules.
Human interaction is a requirement of all volunteer roles. Volunteers are an extension of the HSJC and must always communicate professionally, although this is an independent role and you will usually be working solo.
Volunteers must be 14 years old or older.
14-15 years old: must volunteer with a parent/guardian 16-17 years old: may volunteer solo with parent/guardian consent 18 years or older: may volunteer in any capacity
