Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist (EX)
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Summary This position serves as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist for expendable (EX) assets/materials within the Supply Chain Management Service of the VA Health Care System. The incumbent oversees multiple supply series of consumable medical supply/inventory used in the healthcare system, manages return and reutilization programs, and serves as a subject?matter expert on commodity management. Responsibilities Supervise a team of employees from interrelated units, including personnel management, performance evaluations, and training. Maintain inventory management control and distribution of expendable medical supplies. Perform effectiveness and efficiency reviews of inventory processes. Compute required supplies and approve reconciled purchase?card transactions. Coordinate commodity support, resolve logistics problems, and act as the central point of contact for the Chief Supply Chain Officer and Assistant CSCO. Manage federal and agency programs for return, reutilization, and disposal of excess consumables. Provide root?cause analysis and participate in emergency procurement decisions. Develop position descriptions, performance standards, and individual development plans. Conform to security, safety, and quality standards required for supply chain operations. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualifications by the closing date of the announcement (11/03/2025): Specialized Experience:
One full year of experience equivalent to the GS?9 level in a federal position related to inventory or commodity management. The experience must include planning, executing an inventory program, overseeing physical inventories, performing data analysis for acquisition planning, supervising staff, and resolving complaints. Education:
A doctoral degree (Ph.D., J.D., or LL.M.) or three (3) full years of progressive graduate education leading to such a degree; transcripts must be submitted with the application. Combination:
An equivalent combination of education and specialized experience as described above.
Additional Qualifications: Current Federal employee with 52 weeks of GS?09 time-in-grade or eligible SF?50 evidence. Valid state-issued drivers license (Real ID permissible). Ability to work MondayFriday, 7:00 AM3:30 PM (telework available on an ad?hoc basis).
Compensation
Base pay range: $73,939.00 $96,116.00 per year.
