Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing all warehouse systems and equipment within the cold storage facility. This includes performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring all refrigeration, material handling, and building systems operate safely and efficiently. The role is critical to minimizing downtime and supporting uninterrupted operations in a temperature-controlled environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, conveyors, doors, compressors, and refrigeration systems.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues as they arise.
Conduct routine inspections of refrigeration systems, including evaporators, compressors, and condensers, to ensure optimal performance and temperature control.
Maintain and repair facility systems, including lighting, plumbing, and electrical circuits.
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, parts used, and work completed in CMMS or maintenance logs.
Follow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and confined space procedures.
Collaborate with warehouse operations and refrigeration teams to ensure all systems are operating efficiently and meet regulatory standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of refrigeration systems (ammonia or Freon )
Experience with HVAC, PLCs, and automated equipment .
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Availability to work overtime, weekends, or be on-call as needed for emergencies.
