Position Overview The

Mechanical Design Engineer

plays a key role in designing and engineering

HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems

for complex commercial and industrial projects.

You'll be responsible for developing code-compliant, constructible, and efficient mechanical system designs that align with both engineering standards and field realities. This is an opportunity to blend

technical design skills with real-world coordination

—working side-by-side with project managers, VDC modelers, and installation teams.

Ideal candidates are highly skilled in

Revit MEP and AutoCAD

, understand the full lifecycle of mechanical systems, and thrive in a

fast-paced design/build environment .

Key Responsibilities

Design

HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems

for commercial facilities such as hospitals, data centers, and high-rise buildings.

Create detailed

3D models, layouts, and fabrication-ready shop drawings

using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.

Perform

heating/cooling load calculations

, duct and pipe sizing, and

equipment selection

based on project requirements.

Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including

ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and SMACNA .

Collaborate with

project managers, field foremen, and BIM/VDC teams

to verify constructability and resolve design issues.

Participate in

coordination meetings

and communicate effectively across trades.

Respond to

RFIs, submittals, and field requests

during construction.

Support

system commissioning, testing, and project closeout

documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (required).

3+ years

of experience designing mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) for commercial projects.

Experience with

hospitals, data centers, or high-rise buildings

preferred.

Proficient in

Revit MEP and AutoCAD

(required).

Working knowledge of

ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and SMACNA

standards.

Engineer-In-Training (EIT)

certification preferred; progress toward

Professional Engineer (PE)

licensure a plus.

Experience in

design-build or design-assist environments

strongly preferred.

Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
