Position Summary
The CNC maintenance tech is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machining equipment and general production support systems in a manufacturing environment certified under ISO 13485. The role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimal downtime, and adherence to all regulatory, safety, and quality standards. This technician supports operations through timely repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment installation/modification efforts. The role also includes facility support for auxiliary equipment and infrastructure, with a focus on Lean manufacturing principles.
CNC Maintenance tech Key Responsibilities
Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on CNC machinery, including Tornos Deco, Okuma, and Mori Seiki machines.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues across manufacturing and facility equipment.
Maintain and service auxiliary equipment such as tumblers, chip conveyors, and coolant systems.
Support equipment installations, commissioning, relocations, and layout modifications.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities using a CMMS, including service logs, PM documentation, and part usage.
Ensure all maintenance and repair work is compliant with ISO 13485, internal SOPs, and safety standards.
Utilize and support
Lean tools such as 5S, Kanban, and root cause analysis (RCA)
to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement efforts related to equipment uptime, reliability, and productivity.
Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and vendors as needed.
Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and equipment-related incident investigations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree .
3–5 years of firsthand experience servicing CNC machinery and production equipment.
Experience with CNC control systems such as Fanuc and Okuma OSP is strongly .
Prior work experience in regulated manufacturing (ISO 13485, GMP, or similar).
Exposure to or use of
Lean manufacturing practices
such as 5S, Kanban, and visual controls.
Familiarity with facility equipment and utilities is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Experience with CMMS platforms for maintenance tracking.
Proactive, organized, and meticulous with a strong focus on safety and quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
Certifications:
Safety certifications (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety) are .
OEM or technical training certifications are a plus.
Work Conditions
Full-time position, standard day shift.
May require occasional off-hours or weekend support during unplanned equipment downtime.
Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
Work environment includes manufacturing floor exposure to machinery, oils, noise, and occasionally confined spaces.
Required use of PPE in designated areas.
