Senior Manufacturing Engineer job summary A Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. Their duties include researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency, and planning factory layouts to optimize production. Lead or assist in the cost‑estimating process.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer Necessary Education, Skills, and Competencies (including licensing and certifications)

10 years of work experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar role needed

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design

Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques

Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations

Well-versed in relevant software (e.g. CAD, MS Office)

Project management skills

Problem‑solving ability

Teamwork skills

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (CNC Machining)

Green belt certificate a plus

Working knowledge with continuous improvement process

Senior Manufacturing Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed.

Provide cost estimations for new and existing projects.

Create, test, and implement manufacturing processes.

Study production and machine requirements.

Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.

Design and install equipment.

Implement manufacturing processes that result in high-quality products.

Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources.

Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance.

Resolve issues and delays in production.

Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality.

Train staff in new and existing processes.

Develop and mentor Junior engineers.

Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and suppliers.

Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations.

Upgrade systems and processes with new technology.
