JOB SUMMARY
The Facilities Maintenance Technician provides a clean, comfortable environment that is free of hazard for Carver County employees and the public. This position performs repairs, maintenance, and inspections on heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, kitchen equipment, and structural systems of all County facilities and performs all other duties assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs building maintenance repairs to building related systems. Monitors daily operations of HVAC related equipment to ensure that buildings are kept at a comfortable temperature and ventilation. • Conducts ground maintenance work including snow and ice removal and lawn maintenance activities for the safety and comfort of visitors and County employees. • Performs daily facility maintenance inspections. Maintains and repairs HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical equipment and controls. Oversees mechanical and electrical installations. • Determines the causes of system breakdowns or malfunctions. Tests, analyzes and documents adjustments to boilers, air-conditioning, and water treatment programs. • Assists in the operation of energy management systems utilizing DDC controls. • Prepares and maintains parts inventories for the department so that repairs may be performed in a timely fashion with the appropriate supplies on hand. • Performs remodeling work including building walls, making improvements to doors, roofs, floors, and ceilings according to the specifications of County design and planning. • Moves files, furniture, supplies, and equipment as assigned through work orders from other departments. • Assists in training staff in departmental equipment operational methods and procedures for safety and efficiency. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma/GED • One (1) year of work experience in building operations, maintenance, or construction or • Associates Degree in related area and • Valid Driver's License • Ability to successfully complete CJIS fingerprinting • Ability to obtain MN Special Boilers License within one year of employment (The county will help provide materials and time to obtain) • Unlicensed Electrical License or the ability to obtain within 12 months (The county will help provide materials and time to obtain) SCORED EXAMINATION PROCESS

The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), updated background investigation, CJIS fingerprintingand pre-placement physical. 01
