Description
Job Summary:
Collect, analyze, verify and report information related to the Company's and its subsidiaries' property, plant and equipment including software prepaids. Work closely with our Divisional Controller, other property accounting team members and other departments throughout the organization to produce timely, accurate and relevant financial reporting information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The key responsibilities will include as a minimum the following: Works collaboratively with all members of the accounting department to meet monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting objectives. Works with other groups to understand capital projects and budgets. Creates journal entries for monthly/quarterly close. Reconciles general ledger accounts directly related to capital assets. Reviews monthly/quarterly general ledger transactions and makes corrections as needed for coding. Maintains accurate and complete files and records to document transactions. Maintains a high level of internal control over financial reporting processes. Assists with audit PBC's and requests. Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, back-up to Cash Application clerk as well as a back-up to the other Property Accountant(s) Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: An individual in this position must have attained a minimum of BA or BS to meet entry-level requirements. Education beyond the minimum is an added advantage for career development activities.
It is preferred that an individual have some public accounting experience. Additional industry experience is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration Requirements:
License(s): CPA preferred
Employee will consistently demonstrate competency when engaged in the following critical and important tasks.
Critical Tasks:
Prioritize workload and meet deadlines Analyze financial reports in connection with the tax return preparation Complete entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables Compute taxes owed, using calculator or personal computer Consult tax law handbook or bulletins to determine procedure for preparation of returns Coordinate audits with state and federal taxing authorities Determine forms needed to prepare return Review tax lives and depreciation methods for fixed assets Advise Tax Manager on income tax issues Monitor internal controls, separation of duties, departmental audits Stay current on any knowledge needed about using the chosen income tax software Provide accurate accounting and fiscal data to requesting management and/or programs Important Tasks:
Detail-orientated and organized Must be able to demonstrate ability to work in a team environment Assist in ACA reporting Assist with SOX certifications when needed Advise staff on accounting related policies, procedures, and resolve problems Communicate with customers vendors, staff, and other Control Agencies Ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks for the monthly accounting cycle
