School Adjustment Counselor / BRYT Coordinator
Position Summary:
The School Adjustment Counselor / BRYT Coordinator provides social, emotional, and academic support to students, including those transitioning back to school after extended absences. This role combines counseling, case management, collaboration with staff and families, and service coordination to promote student well-being and academic success. A portion of the position includes weekly counseling sessions for students with social-emotional goals on IEPs.
Key Responsibilities: Provide individual and group counseling and case management for assigned students, may include students with IEP counseling goals and in the Prep Academy Program. Participate in IEP meetings; develop and monitor SEL goals. Conduct crisis interventions, self-harm and threat assessments, and behavioral assessments; create behavior support plans. Collaborate with teachers, families, and outside providers to ensure comprehensive student support. Implement the academic support component of the BRYT program, including academic coaching and readiness skill-building. Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress and support plans. Maintain a structured, supportive BRYT classroom environment. Attend district mental health team meetings and professional development. Perform additional duties as assigned. Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a student-centered approach in all responsibilities. Qualifications:
Master's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field. Massachusetts DESE School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker license required. Experience working with adolescents and providing counseling and crisis intervention. Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
