Manufacturing / Design Engineer (Hands-On, Multi-Discipline Role) Location: Atlanta, GA Area (Onsite) Industry: Medical / Healthcare Equipment (Light Industrial) Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire We are seeking a highly adaptable, hands-on Manufacturing / Design Engineer to join a small but impactful engineering and production team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being a “jack of all trades” —balancing mechanical design work with shop floor support, light assembly, process improvement, and problem-solving. If you’re someone who likes to roll up your sleeves and take ownership of both design and manufacturing, and you enjoy working in an environment where your work has a direct and meaningful impact, this could be a great fit. What You’ll Do Design & Engineering Update and refine 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferred, but other 3D CAD systems considered). Perform basic analyses (stress, tolerance, DFM/DFA considerations). Assist with prototype builds, product adjustments, and small custom modifications. Create and maintain Bills of Materials and engineering documentation. Manufacturing & Production Support Work hands-on with the assembly team to troubleshoot and resolve build issues. Support and optimize manufacturing processes, fixtures, and tooling. Create or improve work instructions and SOPs. Lead or support root cause / CAPA and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure parts are manufacturable and meet specifications. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with operations, quality, supply chain, and occasional customer interactions. Support product adjustments for custom configurations and installations. Help ensure smooth product builds and on-time project delivery. What We’re Looking For 10+ years of engineering experience supporting manufacturing environments. Proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software with willingness to transition. Ability to work hands-on with shop tools such as: Drill press, chop saw, band saw, hydraulic press, and common hand tools. Comfortable shifting between desk engineering work and shop-floor support. Someone who values stability and long-term employment—ideal for a professional later in their career who enjoys mentoring and knowledge-sharing. Nice to Have (Not Required): Experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments (GMP, ISO 13485, UL/ETL, NFPA, OSHA). Light electrical wiring or mechanical assembly experience. Why This Role Is Unique Small team? Your work is visible and valued. Products support patient safety and efficiency in hospitals nationwide. Opportunity to train directly with the retiring engineer, allowing for a smooth transition. Stable, family-oriented culture—not high pressure or corporate overload. Compensation Competitive salary based on experience. Full benefits package. Long-term employment stability with opportunity to be a key contributor.
