Confidential health care system in Sarasota seeks a dependable Phlebotomist to perform blood collections, specimen processing/labeling, and support patient-centered lab operations.
Top responsibilities Perform venipuncture/capillary blood draws accurately and compassionately. Label, process, and transport specimens per policy and chain-of-custody procedures. Verify patient ID and collect required documentation; maintain strict HIPAA/confidentiality. Maintain phlebotomy equipment, stock supplies, and follow infection-control protocols. Document procedures in the LIS/EMR and communicate critical results to nursing/providers per protocol. Participate in quality control, competency assessments, and departmental training. Required qualifications Strong patient-service skills; calm and professional under pressure. MediClear certification (or equivalent credential) required Familiarity with specimen handling, labeling, infection control, and basic lab safety. Proficient with EMR/LIS entries and basic computer skills. Ability to pass background check and any required drug screening; CPR preferred.
