Job Overview Senior Technical Writer role at Hubbell Incorporated.

Position involves being part of an Engineering team developing complex embedded hardware products in communications and electrical utility markets.

Work with design engineering, application engineering, and product management to write product documentation such as Quick Start Guides, Instruction Manuals, Product bulletins, White papers, FAQs for end‑users.

Also responsible for internal documentation – SOPs, EC releases, BOM creation, and documenting tribal knowledge.

Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive technical product documentation – Quick Start Guides, Product bulletins, Instruction Manuals, Installation Guides, White Papers – meeting industry standards.

Obtain necessary product knowledge and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content.

Write user‑friendly content that meets target audience needs, using clear language.

Independently gather information from SMEs to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.

Develop SOPs and document tribal knowledge for internal teams.

Develop outlines for various technical documents working with product management and design engineering.

Work hands‑on with complex industrial products to outline configuration steps of specific features.

Work efficiently in a fast‑paced, goal‑oriented environment.

Evaluate current content and develop innovative improvement approaches.

Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold standards.

Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation.

Required Educational Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

At least 8 years of relevant experience as an effective Technical Writer.

Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics, technologies, products, test equipment, and technical jargon.

Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.

Superior written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

At least 3 years of experience working with design engineering and product management to improve user experience.

Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize.

Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC).

Desired Qualifications

Previous software development experience.

Previous product testing experience.

Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators.

Experience using XML tools to create documentation.
