Job Overview This is senior-level Technical writer position that involves being a part of an Engineering team which develops complex embedded hardware products in the area of communications, protection for the electric utility market. The individual in this position should be able to work with design engineering, application engineering team as well as product management for writing product documentation such as Quick Start Guides, Instruction Manuals, Product bulletins, White papers, FAQs etc. for end-users. The individual also will be responsible for documentation for internal customers – SOPs, EC releases, creation of BOM, documenting tribal knowledge possessed by only few team members etc. A Day In The Life

Be a skilled wordsmith and be responsible for developing comprehensive technical product documentation- Quick Start Guides, Product bulletins, Instruction Manuals, Installation Guides, White Papers – that meets industry standards Obtain necessary understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content for the end-users Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets product’s end-users up for success Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation Develop SOPs and document tribal knowledge in the business for internal teams as per given directions Develop outline for various technical documents listed above working with product management and design engineering teams Work hands‑on, as necessary, with complex industrial products to familiarize yourself with product enough to outline configuration steps of specific product feature Efficiently work in a fast‑paced, goal‑oriented product development environment Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation What will help you thrive in this role?

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or any science related field At least 8 years of relevant experience as effective Technical Writer Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics, grasp new concepts, technologies, products, test equipment, technical jargons Previous experience of writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for details At least 3 years of experience working with design engineering and product management to improve user experience: design, GUI, help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with ability to prioritize Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous software development experience Previous product testing experience Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators Experience using XML tools to create documentation Hubbell Incorporated Hubbell Incorporated, its subsidiaries and affiliates, is an EO Employer AA: M/F/Veteran/Disability.
