General Pediatrics – Director of the Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children – Professor Cincinnati Children’s is inviting applications for the position of Director of the Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children. The Director will lead our nationally recognized center and its clinical, research, education and advocacy missions.

Overview The Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children serves more than 2,000 suspected abuse cases annually across multiple states and is a leading child advocacy center (CAC). The Center is fully accredited by the National Children’s Alliance and is housed within a children’s hospital. The Director will shape the Center’s strategic vision and ensure fiscal health.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop transformational clinical and research programs.

Recruit, retain, and mentor exceptional faculty and staff.

Identify emerging areas of emphasis and promise.

Facilitate world‑class clinical and educational programming.

Build and sustain community partnerships to address evolving needs.

Oversee 24/7 clinical coverage and collaboration with patient services.

Champion trauma‑informed care practices across the institution.

Represent the Center in regional, national and international collaborations.

Qualifications and Experience

MD/DO or PhD with expertise in child maltreatment and adverse childhood experiences.

Board certification in Child Abuse Pediatrics or related specialty preferred.

Ability to obtain Ohio Medical Board licensure for MD/DO candidates.

Rank of Associate Professor or Professor with eligibility for appointment at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Proven record of implementing new initiatives that advance academic medicine and clinical care.

Strong leadership, people management, and facilitation skills.

Extensive research knowledge in child maltreatment and toxic stress.

Demonstrated excellence in research, clinical care, and mentorship of trainees.

Uncompromising commitment to clinical care, research, and education excellence.

Strong scholarly record with manuscripts, grants, and program development.

Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws or willingness to acquire it.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience in a complex, integrated academic medical setting.
