Job Description:
General Statement of Responsibilities The Data Analyst supports institutional planning, reporting, and decision-making by managing and analyzing data on students, faculty, and courses. The role ensures data quality, prepares reports for internal and external use, and contributes to surveys, accreditation, and grant-related projects.
Examples of Duties
Extract, compile, and analyze institutional data on students, faculty, staff, courses, and other areas of the College.
Prepare and submit reports to external agencies (e.g., IPEDS, DHE, accreditation bodies) and respond to internal data requests.
Collaborate with departments to support planning, accreditation, and grant reporting.
Develop, maintain, and document databases, queries, and workflows to ensure data quality and consistency.
Assist with the design, administration, and analysis of institutional surveys and special research projects.
Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with coursework or experience in quantitative analysis, databases, or data science (e.g., statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, information systems, or related fields).
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
Strong Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
Experience with business intelligence or data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau).
Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in working with databases.
Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations (e.g., FERPA).
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) including developing complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.
Experience working with student information systems (e.g., Banner, Jenzabar) or similar databases.
Familiarity with higher education reporting requirements and institutional research practices.
Equivalency Statement Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as noted above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience has prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.
Additional Information Compensation Full-time, Non-Unit Professional Position. Annual Salary range of $75,000.00 - $85,000.00, dependent on qualifications. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program and the option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
