Principal Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Reliability

Redondo Beach, CA or Gilbert, AZ
and can be filled as a level 3 Principal Systems Engineer or a level 4 Sr. Principal Systems Engineer.
Position Requirements This position requires a
Top Secret clearance
and the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access within a reasonable period of time.
Job Responsibilities
Perform various reliability‑related tasks including leading reliability support to the design team through design trade‑offs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, de‑rating analysis, allocation of reliability requirements, performing FMEA, and supporting design reviews.
Develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
Adapt probability and statistical tools to solve problems involving non‑standard configurations and definitions of system success.
Utilize industry tools to conduct reliability analysis.
Basic Qualifications – Level 3 Principal Systems Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree and 3+ years of engineering experience, OR PhD and 1+ year of engineering experience.
Ability to perform reliability tasks such as MTBF predictions and FMEA.
Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools used in reliability analysis.
Experience with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and interpreting schematics.
Active DOD Top Secret clearance with an SSBI completed within the last 5 years and ability to obtain and maintain SCI access.
Basic Qualifications – Level 4 Sr. Principal Systems Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 8+ years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree and 6+ years of engineering experience, OR PhD and 4+ years of engineering experience.
Same reliability and tool experience as Level 3.
Active DOD Top Secret clearance with an SSBI completed within the last 5 years and ability to obtain and maintain SCI access.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and basic satellite design.
Hands‑on reliability analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware, and systems.
PM&P and electronics design experience or exposure.
Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Active, current US Govt. DOD Top Secret clearance and active SCI access at time of application.
