About the Job

Position Summary As the Finance Manager – Costing, you will lead all financial aspects of product costing across the merchandise retail business. This role is instrumental in supporting gross margin performance, vendor negotiations, and vendor funding tracking. You’ll partner closely with Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Inventory teams to ensure accurate landed cost assumptions, track cost trends, and proactively identify margin improvement opportunities in both costing and vendor funding.

Key Responsibilities Lead financial support for cost change impact analysis which largely include vendor increases and freight changes Managing vendor cost increases include validating market costs for commodities and making costing recommendations to the buying organization for them to use in negotiations all while ensuring alignment between Finance, Merchandising, and Supply Chain. Serve as a key finance lead during vendor negotiations (Joint Business Planning) —providing cost history, scenario modeling, and margin impact assessments. Collaborate with Inventory and Logistics teams on landed cost modeling (freight, duties, handling) and identify cost leakage areas. Work with Accounting on month-end close activities related to cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory reserves, and margin variances. Develop and maintain financial models and dashboards to track cost trends, product-level margin performance, and cost savings initiatives. Create various ad-hoc support across multiple departments: store-level sales analysis and planning Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, merchandising teams, and executive stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field 5–7 years of experience in FP&A, Cost Accounting, or Category Finance Strong understanding of retail product costing, COGS, and gross margin analytics Experience partnering with Merchandising and Supply Chain in a retail or CPG environment Advanced Excel skills; experience with forecasting/reporting tools (e.g., BPC, SAP, Alteryx, Power BI)
