Join our dynamic SMIT Service Desk team as an Entry Level Technician! In this role, you'll be based at our Norfolk, VA office, providing essential Tier I support for software, hardware, and network issues. This position is perfect for individuals eager to learn and grow in the technical support field, helping clients diagnose problems and guiding them through effective solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Service Desk Technician, you will:
Utilize automated systems to analyze and address routine technical issues.
Assess and prioritize incoming requests from users to manage tasks efficiently.
Independently resolve technical problems or collaborate with team members to tackle more complex issues. Elevate unresolved matters to higher-tier technical support when necessary.
Assist users with their inquiries, providing information and training on various databases.
Educate users on the effective use of PCs and networks.
Exhibit strong critical thinking skills to rapidly interpret and address intricate systems.
Manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Communicate smoothly with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Foster collaborative peer mentorship within the team.
Provide excellent support through effective verbal and written communication.
Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, along with 1-3 years of general experience or a suitable combination of experience and college education.
Possess 8570 certification: CompTIA Network+, A+, or Security+ CE.
Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient documentation of issues, troubleshooting steps, and solutions.
Familiarity with NMCI internal structures, processes, and tools.
Experience with HPSM ticketing and Knowledge Management Systems.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Availability to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends as needed.
Active interim or secret clearance is a must.
Preferred Qualifications An Associate's degree or higher in Information Technology or a related field, or at least one year of experience on NMCI Service Desk.
