Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a full‑time Inpatient Staff Physician for our specialized inpatient oncology unit. The work schedule includes day, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Inpatient staff physicians work closely with the attending oncology physician to provide day‑to‑day management for complex and acutely ill cancer patients. You will collaborate with dieticians, pharmacists, social workers, care managers, child life specialists, PT/OT and nursing in a multidisciplinary team. Opportunities to participate in quality improvement, clinical guideline development and implementation, resident, medical student and clinical research are available. The Division of Oncology is among the Leading‑Edge Specialized Multidisciplinary Cancer Clinical Programs and is ranked #1 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Qualifications

MD or DO, board eligible/certified in pediatrics or medicine/pediatrics. Hematology/Oncology training or oncology background is not required; training will be provided.

Approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division and Ohio medical license required.

Unrestricted licensed physician status.

Experience and certifications in specialty area may be required based on assignment.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and CPR.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, including inpatient and/or outpatient settings as needed.

Examine patients, determine presence of disease, establish preventive health practices, diagnose, prognosticate and manage care.

Prescribe medications and immunizations, perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care.

Formulate, support, monitor and modify patient‑specific care plans, including coordination of discharge care.

Provide effective communication of patient care plans and clinical information during admissions, referrals, transfers and discharges.

Maintain compliance with medical staff credentialing and privileging procedures.

Adhere to policies protecting patient rights, informed consent, confidential information, ethical behavior, billing and coding accuracy.
