About the job Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of payroll best practices, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to provide excellent service and resolve payroll-related inquiries.

Key Responsibilities: Accurately process bi-weekly or monthly payroll, including calculation of wages, overtime, and deductions. Audit timekeeping records, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Maintain and update payroll records and employee data within payroll/HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, Kronos). Prepare periodic payroll reports for management, finance, and external audits. Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and management in a timely and professional manner. Assist with payroll tax filings, year-end processing, and distribution of W-2s and other tax forms. Collaborate with HR to support new hires, terminations, promotions, and other employee changes affecting payroll. Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and stay current with legislative changes. Maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll and employee matters.

Qualifications: Associate or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of payroll processing experience in a corporate or business environment required. Proficiency with major payroll software and HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, Kronos). Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and labor laws. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Hourly Pay Rate: $25.00 $35.00 per hour.
