We are seeking a Mid-Level Employment & Labor Counsel to join our Houston office. This is a non-partnership-track Counsel role , with eligibility for future promotion to Senior Counsel (partnership track, though not guaranteed).
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience handling employment litigation, advice, and counseling matters in Texas. You’ll work closely with clients and colleagues on a wide range of employment-related issues, including federal and state compliance, wage and hour disputes, and government investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and dispositive motions
- Attend court appearances and handle discovery responses and meet-and-confer letters
- Defend individual and class action wage and hour claims (court and arbitration)
- Advise clients on compliance with employment laws and regulations
- Respond to government investigations and inquiries
Qualifications
- 3–4 years of experience in labor and employment law , preferably in Texas
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment statutes
- Experience litigating in both state and federal courts ; trial experience preferred
- Familiarity with drafting and reviewing employment manuals and policies
- Excellent communication skills and comfort providing direct client counseling
- Active Texas Bar membership required
Additional Details
- Billable expectation: 1600 hours minimum; 1800 hours considered full-time
- Candidates should be detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive team players capable of managing a high-volume caseload.
