Electrification and Automation
division in
Wendell, NC
to support our portfolio of
protectionand automation
products and solutions. A variety of opportunities are available across the business supporting project design tasks, operations, product development, special projects and process improvements.
We are seeking qualified candidates for our Protection& Automation Internship Progam beginning Spring-Summer in January 2026.This program is based in Wendell, NC.
Our
Protection & Automation TechnicianInternship Program
offers hands-on experience inside our
PanelAssembly Workshop (PA PAWS)
in Wendell, NC - where our Siemens
SIPANELSs,Industrial Control Panels (ICPs)
are built to power the control systems that protect and automate electrical substations.
This internship is designed for
students pursuingassociates degrees
who want to develop technical skills in
electricalassembly, protection, and automation systems
while working side-by-side with experienced Siemens mentors.
A
successful internship can lead directly into ourfull-time Protection & Automation Technician Development Program (PA TDP)
after graduation.
What You'll Do
Assistin
assembling and wiring
industrial control panels forelectrical substations.
Learnand apply
wire cutting, crimping, and routing best practices
usingSiemens standards.
Support
paneltesting and verification
, including electrical safety checks,continuity testing, and documentation.
Gainexposure to
fiber optic and Ethernet testing
used inmodern protection and automation systems.
Participatein real-world
Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
withcustomers and Siemens engineers.
Collaboratewith experienced technicians and engineers to learn how
protectionrelays and automation devices
integrate into substationapplications.
Throughout the program, you'll gain exposure to:
Hands-onexperience in
Protection & Automation technologies
usedacross utilities, data centers, and renewable energy systems.
Mentorshipfrom Siemens experts in engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
Exposureto Siemens'
Power Academy
training curriculum.
Potentialfast-track into the
PA Technician Development Program (PA TDP)
uponsuccessful completion and graduation.
You'll win us over by having the followingqualifications:
Currentlyenrolled in an
Electrical Engineering
,
ElectricalSystems Technology
,
Electronics Engineering Technology
, orrelated program (Associate level).
Inyour
final year
or approaching graduation (eligible towork at least 20 hours/week).
Interestedin learning how power systems, protection relays, and automation panelswork together.
Demonstratedattention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety.
Proficiencyin English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
Mustbe able to lift parts or sub-assemblies weighing up to 50 lbsoccasionally.
Applicantsmust be legally authorized for employment within the United States withoutthe need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
