Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, functional, and efficient operation of all school buildings and grounds. This position performs a wide variety of skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks, with a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance of HVAC and electrical systems. Due to the nature of the work, flexible hours may be required, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends when students and staff are not present in the buildings. Preventative & Corrective Maintenance Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical systems, including HVAC and electrical infrastructure. Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner, including those related to plumbing, carpentry, and general facilities maintenance. Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment, systems, and building components to identify issues before they become major repairs. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs performed. HVAC & Electrical Systems Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including filter changes, belt replacements, and coil cleanings. Assist with installation and maintenance of electrical components such as switches, lighting, and wiring. Maintain compliance with safety codes and regulations for mechanical and electrical systems. General Facility & Equipment Maintenance Repair and maintain interior and exterior building elements including doors, furniture, walls, ceilings, and flooring. Construct and assemble furniture or fixtures as needed. Keep district maintenance vehicles and tools clean and in good working condition. Follow proper procedures for the use, storage, and maintenance of all assigned tools and equipment. Grounds & Playground Maintenance Maintain school grounds including mowing, mulching, trimming, spraying, and pruning (as assigned). Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of playgrounds, including ensuring mulch levels are safe and adequate. Perform outdoor maintenance tasks even in occasional inclement weather. Event & Emergency Support Assist with setup and cleanup of athletic events and school functions. Respond to field work orders and assist with repairs identified during site visits. Remain available for after-hours emergency maintenance calls. Safety, Compliance & Communication Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Maintain physical capability to perform job tasks: lifting/pushing 20-40 lbs frequently and over 40 lbs occasionally; climbing, crawling, bending, and stooping regularly. Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and administrators; maintain records and follow written/verbal instructions. Take initiative to identify and complete necessary tasks without direct supervision. Professional Expectations

Work Schedule Requirements

Due to the operational needs of the school district, work hours must be flexible. Some tasks, particularly those involving HVAC or electrical systems, will need to be completed during off-hours when students and staff are not present in the buildings (early mornings, evenings, or weekends).

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, Maintenance Supervisor, Superintendent, or other administrative staff.
