Strategic Employment
A privately owned leader in the trucking and supply chain logistics industry, with over $100M in annual revenue, is experiencing strong growth and looking for a strategic financial leader at the Controller level to oversee and optimize their financial operations. This is a key hire that will report directly to the company CEO. The ideal candidate will have experience in the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry and a strong background in financial management for mid-to-large private businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Prepare and analyze financial statements, cash flow reports, and key performance metrics to support executive decision-making. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency. Monitor working capital, cash flow, and banking relationships to ensure financial stability and liquidity. Work closely with the CEO (and ownership) to provide strategic financial insights and drive profitability. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance processes. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific financial regulations. Partner with operations teams to improve cost control, profitability, and efficiency across the business. Evaluate and implement financial software and ERP systems to improve financial tracking and reporting. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree
in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 7+ years of experience
in accounting/financial management, with at least
3+ years in a Controller or senior finance role . Experience in the
transportation, logistics, or supply chain
industry is highly preferred. Strong understanding of
GAAP accounting standards, financial reporting, and internal controls . Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel. Proven experience in
budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning . Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor accounting staff. Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience working in a
