Job Description
Our client, a long standing, ~$50M Community Non-Profit Organization based in Manhattan, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their growing Accounting and Finance department. This position will report into the Deputy CFO, manage a small team, and lead the month end closes, audits, and 990s prep for the whole entire organization.

Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Provide financial analysis and insights to assist leadership in decision-making, budgeting, and strategic planning. Ensure proper accounting procedures are followed for all financial activities. Monitor performance against budget and present variance analysis to senior leadership. Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger management. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and all regulatory requirements. Manage annual audit, including 990 Manage tax and other nonprofit filings Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in accounting systems, processes, and policies. Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures. Lead and motivate a team of finance professionals, setting clear expectations and fostering collaboration, high performance, and professional growth. Collaborate with other departments (Development, Programs, Operations) to align financial strategies with organizational goals. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field; MS, MBA, CPA a plus 3+ years independently leading month end closes within a $25M+ Non-Profit 2+ years of management experience Public Audit experience a huge plus Strong technical, analytical, communication and presentation skills Experience with an enterprise accounting system
