Senior Environmental Underwriter (Sr. Level III or AVP Level IV)
Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Underwriter to join our National Accounts Environmental team in Zurich’s Atlanta office. The position can be based in any Zurich office or remotely within the Southern territory.
Responsibilities
Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules.
Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business related needs.
Provide guidance to lower level associates as needed.
Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition, and work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions.
Support the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
Basic Qualifications, Senior Level III
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
Experience working in a team environment.
Basic Qualifications, AVP Level IV
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)
Bachelor’s Degree.
Technical knowledge of Environmental Underwriting.
Established broker relationships (retail brokers) within the south region.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation For Senior Level III, the proposed salary range is $98,500.00‑$215,000.00 with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 15%. For AVP Level IV, the range is $130,000.00‑$215,000.00 with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 20%.
