Responsibilities
Perform skilled trade work in carpentry, metalworking, and maintenance tasks related to HVAC and plumbing systems.
Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications.
Estimate cost, time, and materials for assigned work.
Respond to emergency situations and troubleshoot issues.
Operate all applicable tools, equipment, and systems necessary to perform skilled trade duties.
Organize work tasks based on operational priorities and project guidelines.
Communicate effectively with diverse groups within and outside the organization.
Required Qualifications
Four years of increasingly responsible experience leading to journey-level skills in facility repair and maintenance, or a reasonable combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of an applicable apprenticeship program.
Valid California Driver’s License for the operation of any vehicle or equipment required for the position and in emergency situations.
Participation in all OSHA‑required physicals and examinations.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification indicating completion of an applicable apprenticeship program.
Journey level standing in the carpentry and/or metalworking trades.
Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques commonly used in a maintenance and repair setting.
Five years of journey level work experience in carpentry or metal work systems associated with buildings and grounds.
Compensation Classification: Facilities Maintenance Mechanic. Anticipated hiring range: $6,274/month to $6,528/month. CSU salary range: $5,355/month to $7,801/month.
