Emergency Preparedness Associate Consultant
Base pay range: $70,000.00/yr - $81,000.00/yr
Founded in 2004, BME Strategies is a Massachusetts-based consulting firm specializing in providing Public Health design and implementation programming for local, regional, and state governments.
Position Overview The Emergency Preparedness Associate Consultant (EPAC) supports the delivery of emergency preparedness and response services for BME Strategies' public health clients. The EPAC contributes to the development of emergency preparedness plans, facilitates exercises and trainings, analyzes preparedness data, and prepares reports and communications for client and stakeholder use. Working under the guidance of senior consultants, the EPAC may independently lead smaller projects or workstreams and serves as a key liaison between local and regional public health agencies, healthcare coalitions, and community partners. This position offers an opportunity to build technical and consulting expertise while advancing BME Strategies' mission to strengthen local and regional public health systems. This role contributes to building resilient public health systems and advancing emergency preparedness across communities.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the design and development of emergency preparedness and response plans, exercises, trainings, and related materials
Support local and regional public health agencies in meeting federal and state emergency preparedness deliverables
Conduct and summarize needs assessments to inform preparedness priorities, health promotion, and disease prevention strategies
Collect, clean, and analyze preparedness data to produce actionable insights for local and state partners
Collaborate with local boards of health, healthcare coalitions, regional preparedness coordinators, and community organizations to strengthen response capacity and volunteer management systems
Coordinate and document advisory board and coalition meetings, including communications, agenda preparation, and meeting minutes
Assist with developing and updating policies, procedures, and protocols for public health programs
Support community education and outreach activities, including public health campaigns, trainings, and events
Maintain organized records, data systems, and reporting documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements
Perform other related duties as assigned to support project and firm objectives
Requirements
1-3 years of relevant experience in emergency preparedness, public health planning, or related program implementation (including internships or practicum experience)
Master's degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, or a related field preferred; bachelor's degree with equivalent experience considered
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality written and verbal communications
Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners
Familiarity with public health preparedness frameworks (e.g., PHEP, HPP, NIMS, I(CS?) ) a plus
Valid driver's license and residence in Massachusetts or Southern New Hampshire required
Working Conditions
Remote work, with occasional travel to client sites, conferences, or meetings as required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment
