Job Responsibilities Expand your nursing career with the Georgia Department of Public Health! We are actively recruiting for our Expanded‑Role Registered Nurse position at our Specialty Care Clinic in Athens, Georgia. The Specialty Care Clinic is the primary provider of HIV/ Ryan White services for patients across the Northeast Health District’s 10 counties: Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton. If you have a passion for public health and desire to help end the HIV epidemic, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
Order, administer and/or dispense medications, including HIV medications and oral contraception
Order and administer immunizations
Perform cervical cancer screenings, breast, and pelvic exams
Evaluation and treatment of sexually transmitted infections
Insertion and removal of contraceptive implants
Identify infections through microscopic exams (wet mounts)
Screen and refer patients to community resources
Collaborate with patients on health promotion and education activities
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification
OR
Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
Annual salary $70,158. Plus, generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
Additional Information The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well‑being. The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15‑minute breaks or one 30‑minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
