Assistant Professor in Arts in Health Full‑time, 9‑month, on‑campus tenure‑accruing faculty position. Expected hire date is August 16, 2026.
Salary:
$90,000 per year with a comprehensive benefits package.
The Center for Arts in Medicine (CAM) seeks an Assistant Professor to recruit, teach, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; maintain an active national and international research and creative activity profile; and participate in shared governance and service to the Center, College, University, and the broader Arts in Health field.
Responsibilities Teaching:
Recruit, teach, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in arts in health. Courses may be taught in person, asynchronously, or hybridized settings. Sample undergraduate courses include Introduction to Arts in Medicine in a Global Context, Music and Health, Dance in Medicine, Visual Arts in Medicine, Arts in Medicine Practicum, and Music in Medicine Capstone. Sample graduate courses include Research and Evaluation in Arts in Medicine, Arts in Medicine Advanced Professional Seminar, and Arts in Medicine Capstone Proposal. Include participation in CAM’s Research Primer and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
Research and Creative Activity:
Maintain an active research and creative profile in areas such as arts in health, arts in public health, medical and health humanities, arts, health, and AI, or related fields. Manage a sponsored research portfolio and collaborate with faculty peers in interdisciplinary research labs.
Service:
Participate in shared governance and service to the Center, College, University, and the arts in health community. Take on leadership roles and volunteer for service opportunities that benefit the profession.
Required Qualifications
Terminal degree (or ABD)
Potential for national or international research achievement aligned with UF tenure and promotion criteria
Evidence of external funding acquisition and grant proposal writing skills
Three (3) years of post‑secondary teaching and mentorship experience
Demonstrated skill in designing and facilitating inclusive academic work that promotes respect, open discourse, and well‑being for all students
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree
Five (5) years of university‑level teaching and mentorship experience
Record of national or international research achievement aligned with UF promotion criteria
Demonstrated track record in securing and managing research funding
Emphasis on music or visual arts and medicine
Evidence of innovative, cross‑disciplinary curricula and effective student recruitment outreach
