Job Summary
Sheriff's Data Technician role at King County, WA.
Work Location Regional Communications and Emergency Coordination Center (RCECC), 3511 NE 2nd Street, Renton, WA 98056 (not telecommutable).
Work Schedule The Data Unit operates 24/7, including holidays. Technicians must be willing to work any shift, including overtime as assigned.
Responsibilities
Receive, enter, maintain, transmit, and relay various information to mobile units, other agencies, and courts via radio and other systems.
Provide time‑critical criminal history information to officers and agencies.
Ensure local information entered into county, state, and national computer systems is complete, accurate, and up to date.
Maintain electronic and paper files on wanted, missing or dangerous persons, stolen property, warrants, and court orders.
Assist officers in identifying persons or property and confirming warrants.
Protect confidentiality of information, ensuring it is provided only to authorized personnel.
Audit and validate locally entered information.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate via radio, email, phone, and in person under stress.
Experience in high‑volume, high‑pressure customer service environments.
Attention to detail and quality; research skills and ability to retrieve and file records from multiple sources.
Accurate data entry skills, filing numerically and alphabetically in databases and paper systems.
Strong written communication skills; proficient at transcribing and editing documents with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to perform multiple tasks with changing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
Productive work without close supervision.
Keyboarding speed of at least 35 WPM.
Proficient with standard office equipment such as laptops, copiers, and multi‑line telephone.
Desired Qualifications
Two or more years of professional administrative or data‑entry experience.
Knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures in law‑enforcement information systems.
Prior experience in public safety agencies or police data management.
Special Requirements
Pass thorough background investigation, including a polygraph.
Obtain Washington State Patrol ACCESS Level 2 Certification within six months of employment. On‑job training available if not already achieved.
