Work Location Regional Communications and Emergency Coordination Center (RCECC), 3511 NE 2nd Street, Renton, WA 98056 (position is NOT eligible to telecommute)
Work Schedule 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, including holidays and nights. Data Technicians must be willing to work any shift, including overtime.
Responsibilities
Receive, enter, maintain, transmit, and relay various types of information to/from King County Sheriff’s Office mobile units, other agencies, and records.
Provide time‑critical criminal history information to officers and agencies.
Ensure information entered into County, State, national, and international computer systems is complete, accurate, and up to date.
Maintain electronic and paper files on wanted, missing or dangerous persons, stolen property, warrants and court orders.
Assist in establishing true identity of persons or property by comparing descriptions and confirming warrants.
Protect confidentiality of information by ensuring data is provided only to appropriate personnel.
Audit and validate all locally entered information.
Qualifications & Knowledge
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; effectively communicate via radio, email, phone, and in‑person under stress.
Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service in high‑volume, high‑pressure environment.
Detail‑oriented with strong research skills; ability to search, retrieve, log and file records from multiple sources.
Accurate data entry and numerical filing experience.
Strong written communication skills with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to perform multiple tasks with constantly changing priorities.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Keyboard accuracy of at least 35 WPM.
Proficiency with standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, multi‑line phones.
Desired Qualifications
Two or more years of increasingly responsible professional administrative support or data entry experience.
Knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, and law enforcement information.
Previous experience in public safety agencies or police data/records management field.
Special Requirements
Pass thorough background investigation, including polygraph.
Within six months of employment, obtain Washington State Patrol Access Level 2 Certification (on‑job training available if not already achieved).
