Description:

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking a Metro Subway or Light Rail OCC Control Room Controller. The controller monitors system‑wide train movements, train positions, and route alignments on the Central Supervisory Control System. Responsibilities include regulating and modifying route alignments on the mainline, yard storage tracks, and yard transition areas; monitoring voice communications and coordinating with yard personnel; assisting other controllers; monitoring power substations, SCADA, and system facilities; notifying field supervision and managers of operational issues; performing data entry, telephone communications, and hyper‑alert notifications. The position requires rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with assignment to one of three shifts in a 24‑hour period.

Responsibilities:

Monitor and manage train movements and route alignments across the Metro/Light Rail network.

Regulate and modify mainline and yard route alignments as needed.

Maintain communication on the voice channel and coordinate with yard personnel for daily train schedules.

Assist other controllers in combined responsibilities.

Monitor power substations, SCADA, and system facilities.

Notify Field Supervision and Managers of operational issues.

Perform data entry, telephone communications, and hyper‑alert notifications.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Five (5) years of experience in a transit system or transportation operation, with at least one year in a rail environment.

Knowledge of rail operations, SCADA, and supervisory control systems.

Special Requirements:

24‑hour call‑in availability and reliable communication link for emergency call‑back.

Work required in evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Travel to various MTA locations.

Undergo substance abuse testing as required by federal regulations.

Licenses & Certifications:

Valid Maryland motor‑vehicle operator’s license required for duties involving vehicle operation.
