Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to report directly to the Senior Manager of Electrical Design. The role focuses on routing cable raceways and circuits, modeling equipment, and contributing to design guidelines and procedures. Electrical codes and databases will be constantly reviewed as standards evolve. The incumbent will work collaboratively with our integrated EPC team and clients to deliver high‑quality, world‑class deliverables for construction projects. This position is located in person at our Kansas City office in Leawood, KS.

Job Responsibilities

Lead electrical design projects, including client meetings, scope, budget, and schedule management.

Design electrical raceway systems such as duct banks, trays, above‑ground conduits, and 3D model equipment for power plant systems.

Route cable through raceways, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.

Develop production drawings, layout studies, and calculations.

Conduct quality checks on 3D models for interference and constructability optimizations.

Resolve comments on checked drawings and implement changes.

Prepare as‑builts using RFIs, ECNs, and red‑marked drawings from construction.

Collaborate with the integrated EPC team and clients on RFIs, deliverable reviews, change orders, and equipment buyout support.

Mentor team members and provide technical guidance.

Improve customer satisfaction, work quality, and operational efficiencies.

Develop, review, and enforce design guidelines and procedures to standardize our PowerFLX work.

Stay current with technology and industry practices.

Interpret design codes and specifications related to requirements.

Check designs for consistency, safety, operability, quality, and maintainability before submission.

Lead quality checks of design and engineering to ensure accuracy.

Establish technical credibility and lead project teams.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree in drafting technology, design, or related field; or high school diploma with relevant coursework/experience.

Eight (8) years of related experience.

Proficiency in 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings.

Advanced knowledge of design software such as SCADA Systems PanelDES or ElecDES, E3D, Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel.

Experience working effectively in a team environment and with project managers, engineers, designers, and constructability personnel.

Strong knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, API, NEC, and other industry codes, specifications, and standards.

Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and change management.

Adaptable, collaborative, and systems‑thinking mindset.

Experience with Electrical Raceway or electrical modeling and code requirements in an EPC power environment.

U.S. work authorization required; no visa sponsorship.

Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of Aconex Document Controls software.

Clear understanding of construction and constructability practices.

Experience with proposal and estimate processes.

Background in owner or client engineering.

Electrical power fieldwork or on‑site resident designer experience.
