Senior-Level Electrical Designer - Kiewit Power Engineering
Position overview: We are seeking Senior and Lead Electrical Designers to join our innovative Power Engineering team. There is a surge in demand for Power across North America due to electrification, data center growth, increased cooling needs, decarbonization efforts, and alternative energy solutions. Location These roles offer a hybrid schedule and can be based out of any of our regional offices, including Lenexa (KS), Lone Tree (CO), Houston (TX), Detroit (MI), Phoenix (AZ), Chattanooga (TN), Charlotte (NC), Raleigh (NC), Boston (MA), Woodcliff Lake (NJ), or New York City (NY). Remote flexibility is also available.
Responsibilities
Lead projects and teams, delivering electrical designs and 3D models for power generation projects, using SmartPlant3d and Navisworks, and applying applicable engineering national and local codes.
Develop electrical design layouts including duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding, and lighting systems from concept to completion using engineering documents, sketches, or vendor data.
Generate raceway, lighting, and power plans, sections, P&ID's, and perspective drawings from the 3D model.
Manage schedule, scope, budgets, and forecasts for assigned projects, lead team meetings, and report progression updates and issues to the project lead team (based on experience).
Coordinate with project team via Project Database processes (Request for Review, Holds List, ECN, RFI from other disciplines, etc.).
Develop 3D models from drawings and sketches; check interferences and constructability; mentor junior staff.
Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule; model electrical components using vendor submittals.
Perform calculations to check conduit and cable tray fill per NEC requirements and size pull boxes.
Verify voltage separation requirements and create plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables.
Ensure designs meet electrical quality standards and department procedures; resolve checked comments and support project development tasks.
Provide field support to assist construction in resolving issues.
Qualifications
At least 10+ years of experience in electrical component and system design with recent experience in Electrical Physical Design (and circuit and raceway) in Power or heavy industry where you deliver and connect power.
Highly proficient with 3D modeling, preferably using SmartPlant3D; other 3D modeling/CAD tools with Power or Oil and Gas electrical systems considered.
Experience in power generation electrical design is preferred.
Electrical design 3D modeling experience includes component and complete system layouts (duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding, lighting) from concept to completion; able to perform related calculations.
Experience generating raceway, lighting, and power plans, sections, P&ID's, and perspective drawings from the 3D model.
Ability to manage schedule, scope, budgets, and forecasts; lead team meetings and report progression updates.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment and lead others on a project.
Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and forecasting for lead roles.
Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight; strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to mentor junior designers.

Compensation and Benefits Base compensation: $104,000/yr - $150,000/yr. Actual compensation varies by education, experience, skillset, and location.
