The Role: Controls Engineer Controls Engineers are responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning automation and control systems using PLCs and related technologies. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, cross‑functional environment to develop innovative custom automation solutions that bring complex machinery to life.

What You’ll Do

Design, program from scratch, and debug PLC, HMI, motion control, robotics, and vision system software solutions.

Collaborate with project managers, mechanical, and electrical teams to align software with machine functionality.

Participate in design reviews, providing technical insights and guidance.

Support debug, runoff, and acceptance testing of automation systems.

Mentor less experienced engineers and help advance software design practices.

Occasionally travel, approximately 25% including overnight stays domestically and internationally.

What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 5-10 years in electrical/software design or engineering (special machine industry experience a plus).

Skills:

Proficiency with scratch programming of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, and vision systems.

PLC – Siemens, Allen Bradley, & Omron

Robot – Fanuc, Kuka, ABB

Vision – Cognex, Keyence

Ignition

Strong grasp of structured software design principles.

Proven ability to debug complex automation systems (software, wiring, mechanical).

Technically creative—able to design solutions that are robust and cost-effective.

Work effectively across disciplines, managing complex and challenging situations with professionalism, composure, and sound engineering judgment.

Self‑motivated and adaptable, with the ability to quickly master new technologies and project requirements while thriving in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
