Mass General Brigham, a not‑for‑profit organization that supports patient care, research, teaching, and community service, welcomes a per diem Sterile Processing Technician II to work evenings and weekends across three Main Sterile Processing Departments: OSC, GI, and Main SPD at Newton‑Wellesley Hospital. Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician II ensures the highest quality standards for sterile instruments, scopes, and supplies used in operating rooms, maternity, emergency department, and throughout the hospital. The role incorporates the organization’s vision and mission into daily performance and requires independence and responsiveness to surgical team needs. Responsibilities

Disassemble, clean, disinfect, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments, flexible scopes, and supplies. Perform leak tests, evaluate, and process flexible endoscopes. Inspect instruments for cleanliness and proper functioning. Assemble instruments and kits using kit assembly information. Package, wrap, and prepare kit/instrument loads for sterilization. Load, operate, monitor, and document all decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and monitoring equipment. Conduct chemical, mechanical, and biological monitoring of sterilizers and related equipment. Respond to emergency case requirements of surgical teams and other departments. Assess instrument components and supplies for kit assembly, requesting replacements in a timely manner. Select supplies and instruments for surgical cases using surgeon‑specific preference cards. Stock adult, pediatric, and neonate code carts and intubation boxes. Operate independently in the absence of a manager or supervisor. Utilize computer systems; EPIC and CSIQ/SPM knowledge preferred. Assist in training new staff and volunteers. Rotate between Main SPD, GI, and OSC departments as needed. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Completion of Central Processing Technology Course. At least 2 years of sterile processing experience in an operative setting. Registered Central Service Technician (C.R.C.S.T) or Certified Sterile Process/Dist Tech (C.S.P.D.T) or equivalent required. Knowledge of proper sterile preparation, biological testing, and steam/low‑temperature sterilization processes. Proficiency in cleaning, disinfecting, and decontamination of instrumentation and flexible scopes. Understanding of distribution systems and endoscope processor operation. Proficient with computer systems; EPIC and CSIQ/SPM knowledge preferred. Participation in department quality improvement and performance improvement processes. Job Details
