Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Health Unit Coordinator to support our residents in our Skilled Nursing Facility—Jones Harrison. This clerical/receptionist role would be responsible for supporting the nursing transitional and long‑term care units and staff to keep internal and external communication flow current.

Position Details

80 hours every two weeks

Day/evening shifts

Weekends as needed

Celebrating 135 years of service, Jones‑Harrison Senior Living is conveniently located close to the metro bus stops off Cedar Lake Ave./Drew Ave. S. and Cedar Lake Ave./France Ave. S. in Minneapolis. The community offers Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing and Long‑Term Care with a beautiful view of Cedar Lake and pristine grounds. This community features 53 Assisted living, 9 memory care apartments, 120 skilled and long‑term care beds.

Responsibilities

Notify Physician / Advance Practice Staff of visits, appointments and coordinate with resident representative

Coordinate transportation, complete referrals for appointments, and order labs/x-rays

Assist in maintaining resident rosters and staffing assignment sheets

Assemble and maintain resident charts for admission, discharge and hospital return

Keep all forms accessible and current, with filing and faxing as needed

Transcribe physician orders per facility policy

Participate in audits and surveys

Answer phones in a timely and professional manner

Maintain supply levels for nursing floor using preferred vendors

Required Qualifications

1 year of customer service experience

Preferred Education / Licensure / Certifications

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) or similar Medical Secretary certificate

High school or GED completion

Preferred Experience / Skills

Electronic Health Care software knowledge

Comfortable using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

1 year of related work experience in a health‑care or senior living / care setting

Experience working in a customer service role

Familiar with medical terminology or coursework completed

Ability to use a high level of professionalism and have a problem‑solving aptitude
