MasTec Civil is hiring a
Senior Estimator
to assist in the growth of the Nashville, TN infrastructure market.
LOCATION:
Remote/hybrid position within the state of Tennessee.
Company Overview Founded in 1987, MasTec Civil, LLC specializes in heavy highway construction, building roads, bridges, interchanges, and tolling facilities.
Responsibilities
Understand bid items, basis of estimate, skills to identify errors and discrepancies in plans, and specifications, and solutions.
Read plans, specifications, requests for proposal, requests for information, addendums, and technical special provisions.
Build green sheet estimate, break down activity structure, construction schedule, and risk matrix analysis.
Create job budget for awarded contracts.
Understand bid strategy, cost savings initiatives, and management skills.
Perform accurate and timely quantity takeoffs.
Be capable of individually estimating an entire job.
Study and review all estimating reports: equipment total hours, labor productivity rates, key indicators, equipment balance analysis.
Constantly review updated TNDOT Standards and Specifications.
Fully review the bid submittal package, and lead estimating discussions with company executives.
Obtain clarifications on plans and specifications from owner or engineer of records.
Coordinate and invite suppliers and subcontractors to quote different scopes of work.
Analyze supplier and subcontractor pricing.
Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships.
Have a complete understanding of unit cost analyses.
Assist in pre-bid meetings and bid submittals.
Keep updated information regarding commodity trade prices.
Research construction technologies and techniques.
Maintain continuous education in construction: attend engineering conventions, forums, etc.
Continue communication with field personnel (project engineer, superintendent, foreman, fleet manager, etc.) to track and adjust unit costs as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in Heavy Civil – roadway/highway/bridge experience preferred.
Strong preference for candidates located in Nashville, Tennessee.
B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good organization skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of bridge and roadway construction.
Expertise in Nashville soils (rock/clay), foundations, concrete structures, temporary structural systems, underground and utility work, earthwork, signaling, roadway lighting and signage, intelligent transportation systems, and safety standards.
Knowledge of design-build and design-bid-build contracts with TNDOT and Turnpike Enterprises.
Teaching and mentoring skills.
