Oglethorpe Power Corporation is seeking a Senior Counsel who will engage in general corporate work, focusing on complex procurement and construction agreements, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and plant operations.
Responsibilities
Structure, draft, negotiate, and interpret complicated procurement and/or construction agreements.
Provide counsel on corporate structure, authority, policy, and governance matters.
Support and manage outside counsel advising the corporation on specialized regulatory compliance matters and litigation.
Advise on a range of legal matters related to plant operations, including dispute resolution.
Help to establish and maintain legal templates and processes, while negotiating vendor requests for deviations from standard templates.
Qualifications
Education: College degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.).
Experience: 4+ years of practice with at least 3 years in a medium to large law firm setting.
Licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia.
Strong strategic thinking and sound legal and business judgment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal and external counsel.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and excellence.
Experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
Shows ability to deliver business‑oriented, practical solutions and work well under pressure.
Travel: 5%. Salary: $160,000 – $200,000 per year.
