(PT) Adjunct Instructor, Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Operations
Atlantic Cape Community College seeks a qualified adjunct instructor to teach Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Operations. This course prepares students to sit for and pass the FAA Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG) exam and provides supervised flight training in the college’s NIST Open Test Range.
Compensation: $780 per contact hour
Examples of Duties
Deliver engaging classroom instruction on FAA Part 107 regulations, airspace classification, weather, flight operations, crew resource management, and mission planning.
Conduct supervised flight labs where students gain experience operating small unmanned aircraft systems safely and effectively within the NIST Open Test Range.
Enforce all safety policies and procedures in accordance with the college’s Safety Management System (SMS) and FAA Part 107 standards.
Evaluate student performance in both written and flight components of the course.
Maintain accurate attendance and flight training records.
Typical Qualifications
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, Engineering Technology, or a related field and 3–5 years of related professional experience required.
Demonstrated hands‑on flight experience with small unmanned aircraft systems.
Experience with FAA Part 107 instruction, mission planning tools, or NIST open test range operations preferred.
Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience is helpful but not required.
Tuition Waiver – adjuncts may enroll for one credit course, tuition‑free, during any semester they are teaching.
Paid sick leave in accordance with the NJ Paid Sick Leave Law.
ABP
– The Alternate Benefit Program is a defined contribution retirement program for adjuncts. Adjuncts contribute 5% of base salary and the college contributes 8% of base salary. There are seven State‑authorized ABP investment carriers. Life insurance benefits through ABP are payable to the beneficiary at 3.5X the member’s salary.
