Position Summary UX-UI Designer – Our team works directly with the military medical community across service, combatant command, joint staff and DoD headquarters. We are seeking an UI/UX Designer for the Advanced Analytics team whose mission is to provide insights and solve problems in support of Navy Medicine’s mission, force readiness, and health care management. The role requires working directly with customers to identify requirements, convert them into functional designs, tools, and prototypes, and support the customer community in using those tools.

Responsibilities

Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that align with user needs and business goals.

Create visually compelling Power BI dashboards that enhance data storytelling and support decision‑making.

Develop high-impact PowerPoint presentations using advanced slide design and visual storytelling techniques for executive audiences.

Collaborate closely with data scientists, Power Platform developers, and stakeholders to translate complex data and workflows into clear, engaging designs.

Facilitate design discussions and incorporate feedback to refine and improve user experiences.

Utilize Figma, Adobe XD or similar tools to create wireframes, mockups and interactive prototypes.

Apply UX/UI best practices including layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory and accessibility standards.

Maintain familiarity with front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to communicate effectively with developers.

Ensure designs are feasible within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and align with platform capabilities.

Apply a user‑centered design approach with sensitivity to stakeholder goals and challenges.

Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and DoD design guidelines where applicable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, human‑computer interaction, digital media, computer science or a related field; Master’s preferred.

4 years (or 2 years with a Master’s) of UX/UI design experience focused on Microsoft 365 tools such as Power Apps, Power BI and PowerPoint.

Strong grasp of UX/UI principles: layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory and accessibility.

Experience designing within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem: Power Apps, Power BI and PowerPoint.

Optional certifications: Certified UX Designer (e.g., Nielsen Norman Group), Adobe Certified Professional (Visual Design or UX Design), Microsoft Certified: Power Platform App Maker Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.

Experience with Figma, Adobe XD or similar prototyping tools.

Familiarity with HTML, CSS and JavaScript preferred.

Highly detail‑oriented, collaborative, and comfortable incorporating feedback into intuitive design choices.

Ability to work independently with keen attention to detail.

Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Prior experience supporting Military Health System or other federal‑healthcare environments, understanding of DoD design standards and accessibility requirements.

Demonstrated success meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced, critical support role.
